TRAINING ROOM POLICIES AND PROCEDURES:

  1. Masks are required at all times during evaluation and/or treatment.  Unless student athletes don’t have one on, the athletic trainer will have their mask on.
  2. If you have an appointment, please be on time. If you’re more than 15 minutes late for your scheduled appointment, you will be asked to reschedule.
  3. The athletic training staff is here to help you and assist you in participating in sports in a safe and healthy manner. It is your responsibility to report injuries to the athletic trainer promptly.
  4. There will only be one student-athlete permitted in the office or training room at a time. Please be patient and understanding of the circumstances. All student-athletes who need to be seen will be taken care of in a thorough and efficient manner.
  5. Be respectful to the athletic training staff and other student-athletes receiving treatment in the athletic training room. No cursing, intimidation, horseplay, or discrimination will be tolerated towards anyone.
  6. If a student-athlete has changes to their physical such as:
    1. Parents/Guardians change in employment
    2. Change of medical insurance OR loss of medical insurance
    3. Changes to medication, both OTC and prescribed
    4. Changes to medical health

It is the student-athlete’s responsibility to report any and all changes IMMEDIATELY to the athletic training staff, so that proper medical files can be updated.

  1. Varsity student-athletes will ONLY be taped by the athletic trainer if one of the following applies:
    1. Athlete suffers injury during in-season participation in their sport, which ATC deems taping as part of their rehabilitation program. Athlete must attend rehabilitation sessions either with Fayette ATC staff or off campus physical therapy two to three times a week. If a physician writes a script for formal physical therapy, then the student athlete MUST obtain therapy from a formal physical therapy clinic.
    2. Documentation that taping is necessary by treating MD for current/chronic injury. This MUST be attached to physical paperwork and documented specifically what the taping is for prior to the start of the varsity athlete’s season if injury is pre-existing.
    3. If any medical physical documentation is found to be incorrect or factious, the student athlete will be held from varsity athletics practice/games until cleared by team physician.

GAME DAY PROCEDURES:

  1. Varsity athletics competition days are NOT an evaluation and/or treatment day for athletes that are medically cleared to participate in sporting event.
  2. The host athletic trainer is responsible for both the home and visiting team’s needs.
  3. For MOST sports the host ATC will be available TWO HOURS prior to the start of competition.
  4. Student-athletes may NOT request tapings for game days. If you are not being taped for practice or receiving rehabilitation for an injury, then no taping will be performed for games.
  5. Student athletes need to be compliant for treatments. If you are traveling to an away game, you are to follow the same game day procedures as a home game. The athletic training staff will be in contact via email 24 hours before competition with the Host ATC and will communicate the student-athlete’s needs for pregame such as tapings.

RELEASE OF MEDICAL INFORMATION:

Due to many student athletes being over 18 years of age, we follow all HIPAA rules and regulations when dealing with release of medical documentation and/or records. If a student-athlete chooses to share their medical information they may ask a member of the athletic training staff for a HIPAA medical release form, in which they may list individuals they choose to share their medical records. This release will be in effect for four years, unless the student-athlete requests to stop in release.
