Roaring Lions Split Doubleheader

Roaring Lions Split Doubleheader

On March 19th, 2015, the Fayette Baseball Roaring Lions hosted the Butler Community College Pioneers. The teams split the doubleheader games, each recording a 1-1 record on the day.

The Roaring Lions, led by Connor McKeel on the mound. Mckeel, in his first game back from a 2013-14 season ending injury, allowed 4 runs in the 1st inning. With stats not nearly reflective enough of his arm strength and accuracy on the mound, McKeel pitched well in his first game back in nearly 2 years.

Freshman Zac Cooney relieved McKeel on the mound and allowed only 1 run in the remaining extra innings of the game. With an offensive that chipped away to bring the game to a tie in the bottom of the 7th inning, the Roaring Lions managed to to secure their first season win in the bottom of the 11th inning.

The story was not so sweet in the second game of the doubleheader. The Pioneers got off to a commanding lead in 3 tallying 12 runs, closing the door on the Roaring Lions who never managed to get the bats swinging. The officials would eventually call the game in the top on the 6th inning due to lack of daylight.

The Roaring Lions will be back in action on Saturday 21st, 2015 as they host Hiram College in doubleheader (2p & 4p) at the Hutchinson Field Complex. The teams will also square off on the follwing Sunday the 22nd at 12p & 2p.
