Fayette Splits Double-header with Butler CC

Hopwood- The Penn State Fayette men's baseball team hosted Butler CC Thursday afternoon in a non-conference double-header. The Roaring Lions split the season series double-header winning the first game 10-7 and dropping the second 8-7.

In a dramatic first inning we saw Fayette respond to Butlers single run homer with two run homer. After an RBI by Kody Thomas to tie the game 1-1, Senior Jon Krall gave Fayette a 3-1 lead when he hit a 2 run homerun. After battling back and forth all game Fayette was down 1 run in the last inning. Jon Krall who had an outstanding game came up to the plate, with 1 ball 1 strike Krall hit a grand slam to win the game 10-7.  

Jon Krall went 2 for 4 batting in 6 RBI's and hitting 2 homeruns. Jim Amarosa and Seth Krall both went 2 for 4, each scoring a run. Stanley Deavers went an impressive2 for 3 batting in 2 RBI's. Francisco Quinonez got his first win of the season.

In the second game of the double-header we saw both teams leadoff hitters make it to home plate. Fayette was led by Grant Wortman on the mound followed by Sean Cotton who replaced Wortman in the sixth inning to finish out the game. Seth Krall had another solid game going 2 for 3 with 1 RBI and 2 runs. Dylan Jackson posted a triple in the second inning, scoring thanks to a sacrifice fly by Mike Haines.

Fayette battled back in the bottom of the 7th inning scoring 4 run to shorten the lead from 8-3 to 8-7. Seth Krall, Francisco Quinonez, and Stanley Deavers all contributed to the rally by all hitting doubles then making it home. Unfortunately they left a player in scoring position and were unable to tie up the game. Fayette would fall just short losing 8-7 to Butler CC in the second of their double-header.

The Fayette men's baseball team will be back in action Saturday March 2nd at 2:00pm and 4:00pm at Hutchinson Field.  Fayette will host Penn State York in their 2nd PSUAC conference double-header.
