Fayette Beats Greater Allegheny for the 1st Time in 6 Years

Hopwood- Penn State Fayette men's baseball team split a double-header with Penn State Greater Allegheny in a PSUAC game Wednesday afternoon with a loss in the first game 5-4, and an exciting win in the second of 7-2.

In the first game, Fayette came out scoring 1 run in the first three innings. Francisco Quinonez continued his spectacular play going 2-4 with 1 RBI.  Fayette was led out on the mound by Seth Krall. S. Krall played another solid game pitching all seven innings, remaining scoreless in 6 of them. S. Krall not only had a solid game defensively, but was a key performer in Fayette's offense. He scored 2 of the Roaring Lions' 4 runs, coming up with a huge homerun in the bottom of the 7th inning to put the Roaring Lions within one run of Greater Allegheny. Unfortunately, Fayette was unable to complete the comeback, dropping another PSUAC game 5-4.

The second game was a completely different story. Penn State Fayette came out firing, scoring 4 runs to Greater Allegheny's 1 in the first inning. Fayette managed to hit 2 homeruns off of pitcher, Max Whiteman, by Francisco Quinonez and Seth Krall. Kody Thomas had an outstanding game going 3-4 with 2 runs and 1 RBI. Thomas also pitched the whole game, allowing only 2 runs. Thomas increased his PSUAC league lead in wins to 3-0 on the season.  He is also tied with another pitcher for first in the PSUAC with 22 strikeouts. Thomas's 2.10 ERA is good for 1st in  the PSUAC and 5th in the USCAA.

 Francisco Quinonez continued his hot play, going 3-4 with 1 run, 3 RBI's, and a homerun. Through 11 games, Quinonez is hitting an outstanding batting average of .583 putting him 1st in the PSUAC and 3rd in the USCAA.  Seth Krall went 2-2, scoring 2 runs, batting in 2 RBI's. S. Krall hit his second homerun of the day putting him 3rd in the PSUAC for homeruns right alongside his brother Jon Krall with three. The Roaring Lions went on to beat Greater Allegheny with a score of 7-2.  This is Fayette's first win against Greater Allegheny in six years.

The Fayette men's baseball team will be on the road Sunday, April 10 at Lake Lehman High School to take on Penn State Wilkes-Barre at 2:00pm and 4:00pm.
