Clark powers Fayette Baseball to a win

Lemont Furnace, PA - Austin Clark homered twice to pace the Penn State Fayette baseball team to an 8-7 exhibition win over Allegany College of Maryland on Thursday, March 28 to end a three-game losing streak.

Down 1-0 in the first, Clark (Rices Landing, PA/Jefferson Morgan) drilled a three-run shot to give Fayette (3-11) a 3-1 lead.

The Nittany Lions extended their lead to 4-1 in the third when Matt Morgan (Eighty-Four, PA/Ringgold HS) singled in Noah Hanson (New Kensington, PA/Kiski HS).

Up 4-3 in the fifth, Clark hit his second home run of the game to give Fayette a 5-3 lead.

An inning later, TJ Lux (West Newton, PA/Yough HS) and Austin Benton (Lusby, MD/Patuxent HS) had RBI singles to give the Nittany Lions a 7-3 lead.

Allegany College made things exciting for the local fans as it scored four times in the eighth to tie the game, but Fayette pulled the game out in the ninth.

With two outs and Austin Benton (Lusby, MD/Patuxent HS) on third, Justin Salom (Brooklyn, NY/Fort Hamilton HS) hit the ball back to the mound.

Benton hustled home on the play and Fayette picked up the walk-off win.

Trevor Stewart (Grindstone, PA/Brownsville HS) picked up the win in relief for the Nittany Lions after pitching a scoreless ninth inning.

Hanson, Clark, Morgan and Stewart all finished with two hits each.

Fayette returns to PSUAC action on Friday, March 29 at Penn State Beaver.
