BB gets first PSUAC win of the season

Monaca, PA - The Penn State Fayette baseball team picked up its first PSUAC win of the season at Penn State Beaver, 7-6, on Friday, March 29.

Trailing 1-0 heading into the fourth inning, Fayette (4-11, 1-3) exploded for five runs.

Matt Morgan (Eighty-Four, PA/Ringgold HS) got Fayette on the board as he singled in Noah Hanson (New Kensington, PA/Kiski HS) and Ross Mazer (Frostburg, MD/Salisbury-Elk Lick HS).

Jaryn Addis (Grindstone, PA/Brownsville HS) followed with a bunt single that drove in Austin Benton (Lusby, MD/Patuxent HS) and then Brody Bagwell (East Millsboro, PA/Brownsville HS) had an RBI bunt single of his own that drove in Trevor Thomas (Meyersdale, PA/Meyersdale HS).

Fayette closed its scoring in the inning when Trevor Stewart (Grindstone, PA/Brownsville HS) singled in Bagwell.

Beaver scored one run in the bottom of the inning to make the score 5-2, but Fayette got the run back in the top of the fifth when Morgan doubled in Mazer.

Beaver tied the game in the seventh by scoring four unearned runs, and the game came down to the ninth inning.

With one out in the final inning, Garrett Stevenson (Hempfield, PA/Hempfield HS) drove in Jeffrey Doran (West Mifflin, PA/West Mifflin HS) for the winning run before Austin Clark (Rices Landing, PA/Jefferson Morgan) stranded a runner in the bottom of the inning.

Clark went the distance for Fayette while Mazer, Morgan, Addis and Bagwell all had two hits.

The two teams square off Saturday, March 30 in a double header.
