BB extends winning streak to four

Lemont Furnace, PA - The Penn State Fayette baseball team swept Penn State Beaver in PSUAC action thanks to a pair of comeback wins to extend their season-long winning streak to four games.

In the opener, Fayette (6-11, 3-3) trailed 6-0 before making a valiant comeback to pull out a 10-8 win.

Beaver scored five runs in the first and added a run an inning later to take a 6-0 lead into the bottom of the second.

However, Fayette scored three runs in the inning and two more in the third to trim the Beaver lead to 6-5.

The score held into the sixth when Beaver scored twice to take an 8-5 lead.

Fayette exploded for five runs in its half of the inning to take a 10-8 lead and it held on in the seventh to secure the win.

Austin Clark (Rices Landing, PA/Jefferson Morgan) had a homer, a double, drove in four runs and scored three times to pace Fayette.

Noah Hanson (New Kensington, PA/Kiski HS) doubled, singled and drove in three runs while TJ Lux (West Newton, PA/Yough HS) had a pair of singles and drove in two runs.

Fayette won the second game, 6-5.

Down 5-0 in the second, Fayette scored once in the inning before tying the game with four runs in the fourth and then scoring the game-winning run in the fifth.

Lux had a pair of doubles and drove in two runs, Ross Mazer (Frostburg, MD/Salisbury-Elk Lick HS) had a single and a double while both Brandon Bell (Smock, PA/Uniontown HS) and Jeffrey Doran (West Mifflin, PA/West Mifflin HS) had a pair of singles.

Matt Morgan (Eighty-Four, PA/Ringgold HS) added a triple for Fayette and Brody Bagwell (East Millsboro, PA/Brownsville HS) registered a double.

Fayette returns to the diamond on Saturday, April 6 when it heads to Penn State DuBois for a conference double header.
