Fayette baseball falls in home opener

Lemont Furnace, PA - The Penn State Fayette baseball dropped its home opener to PS Greater Allegheny in a PSUAC game on Friday, March 22, 9-7.

Fayette was able to keep pace early with Greater Allegheny as both teams scored one run in the first and then three in the third.

Up 6-4 after five innings, the guests tallied two runs in the sixth to tie the game and three more in the eighth to win it.

Eight different Fayette players recorded at least one hit as the team had 13 for the game.

TJ Lux (West Newton, PA/Yough HS), Garrett Stevenson (Hempfield, PA/Hempfield HS), Noah Hanson (New Kensington, PA/Kiski HS), Austin Clark (Rices Landing, PA/Jefferson Morgan) and Austin Benton (Lusby, MD/Patuxent HS) all had two hits each.

Matt Morgan (Eighty-Four, PA/Ringgold HS) homered for Fayette and Jeffrey Doran (West Mifflin, PA/West Mifflin HS) tripled while Stevenson, Hanson, Clark and Benton all doubled.

Fayette and Greater Allegheny have a quick turnaround as they square off in McKeesport for a double header Sunday, March 24th.
