Baseball drops pair to PS-Greater Allegheny

McKeesport, PA - The Penn State Fayette baseball team dropped both games of a PSUAC double header on Sunday, March 24 at Penn State Greater Allegheny.

Fayette (2-11, 0-3) held an early lead in both games but was not able to hold ether advantage as it lost the opener, 6-4, and the nightcap, 7-4.

In the opener, TJ Lux (West Newton, PA/Yough HS) went three-for-four at the plate with a triple and Matt Morgan (Eighty-Four, PA/Ringgold HS) added two hits to pace Fayette offensively.

Lux led off the game with a triple and scored on a Garrett Stevenson (Hempfield, PA/Hempfield HS).

Trailing 5-1 heading into the fifth, Fayette scored three times in the inning to trim the Greater Allegheny lead to 5-4.

Austin Clark (Rices Landing, PA/Jefferson Morgan) singled in Stevenson to make the score 5-2, Robert Wolfson (Pittsburgh, PA/Baldwin HS) scored on a Matt Morgan (Eighty-Four, PA/Ringgold HS) single and Clark scored when Brody Bagwell (East Millsboro, PA/Brownsville HS) grounded out on a fielder's choice.

Greater Allegheny countered with an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth to make the score 6-4, and that is how the game ended.

In the second game, Fayette held a 3-2 lead going into the bottom of the third, but the hosts scored three times in the inning and added two more in the fourth to take control of the game with a 7-3 lead.

Fayette added a run in the ninth but it came up short in the conference game.

Clark and Jaryn Addis (Grindstone, PA/Brownsville HS) looked best for Fayette in the nightcap with two singles each.

Fayette returns to action on Thursday, March 28 when it hosts Allegany College of Maryland in an exhibition game.
