Baseball team gains experience in Florida

Auburndale, FL - The Penn State Fayette baseball team traveled to Auburndale, Florida from March 2-4 to take part in the RussMatt Invitational.

Although the Nittany Lions (0-8) dropped all six games it played in, the team gained some much-needed experience that will serve them well come conference play.

On Friday, March 2, Fayette fell to PS Brandywine, 11-7 and 7-6.

In the opener, Fayette jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first but Brandywine scored the next 11 runs.

Fayette scored three runs in the sixth to make the score 11-7, but it could not get any closer.

TJ Lux (West Newton, PA/Yough HS) and Austin Benton (Lusby, MD/Patuxent HS) each recorded three hits for Fayette with Lux adding two RBI's.

In the second game, Fayette once again lost an early lead as it was up 4-1 after two innings.

Four different Fayette players had one single each.

On Saturday, March 3, Fayette fell to WPI (MA), 10-5 and 7-0.

In the opener, Jaryn Addis (Grindstone, PA/Brownsville HS) had a single and double while Noah Hanson (New Kensington, PA/Kiski HS) had a pair of singles.

In the nightcap, Jake Frick (Dunbar, PA/Connellsville HS) had two of Fayette's four singles.

On Monday, March 4, Fayette fell to Wentworth (MA), 8-0 and 12-2.

 In the opener, Fayette was limited to an Addis double and a Brody Bagwell (East Millsboro, PA/Brownsville HS) single.

In the finale, Lux led Fayette with a pair of singles.
