Fayette baseball drops extra-inning contest

Lemont Furnace, PA - The Penn State Fayette baseball team dropped a 10-inning PSUAC contest to PSU DuBois Saturday.

TJ Lux (West Newton, PA/Yough HS), Austin Clark (Rices Landing, PA/Jefferson Morgan) and Jeffrey Doran (West Mifflin, PA/West Mifflin HS) each recorded two hits, but it wasn't enough for Fayette (7-14, 3-6).

Matt Morgan (Eighty-Four, PA/Ringgold HS) singled to lead off the second inning and consecutive singles by and Jeffrey Doran (West Mifflin, PA/West Mifflin HS) loaded the bases.

Lux followed with a one-out sacrifice fly, but Fayette stranded Bagwell and Doran.

DuBois tied the game in the top of the fifth, but Fayette took a 2-1 lead in the seventh.

With two outs, Clark singled in Doran to give Fayette the one-run advantage.

However, Fayette was not able to hold the lead as DuBois tied the game in the ninth and scored three runs in the 10th to win the game.

Austin Benton (Lusby, MD/Patuxent HS) was strong on the mound for Fayette as he went 8.1 innings giving up only a pair of runs and scattering seven hits.

Fayette will look to end its three-game conference losing streak Friday when it heads to PSU New Kensington.
