Baseball hosts OS-Mansfield, Trevor Thomas memorial

Lemont Furnace, PA - On Sunday, September 8th, Fayette Nittany Lions Baseball held their first game to kick off the beginning of the Fall Baseball season hosting the opponents from Ohio State-Mansfield who came ready to play.

Before the game started, the Fayette baseball team held a ceremony in remembrance of Trevor Thomas, a senior student athlete and member of the 2018-19 baseball program who tragically passed away over the Labor Day weekend.

Trevor's legacy, on and off the diamond, will be remembered by his teammates, family, and anyone who had their life impacted by Trevor. With nearly 150 friends and family in attendance, the matchup couldn't have been played on a more beautiful day.

The Fayette team kept the game close until the 6th inning when OS Mansfield broke the score wide open. Throughout the game, Coach Sikorski mixed up lineups to see what potential he had from his new coming freshman recruits and the returning veterans.

It was a proud day to be a Nittany Lion as the baseball team performed well in many different scenarios and showcased team potential from the veteran and incoming recruit class.

The competitive Fall Baseball season schedule has come to an end, but the anticipated traditional Spring season will begin at the end of February 2020.
