Gonzales leads Fayette in Pitt-Bradford Invitational

Bradford, Pa - The Penn State Fayette golf team opened its season Saturday by placing 15th Pitt-Bradford Invitational at Pines Acres Country Club with a combined score of 386.

"Pine Acres Country Club presented a unique challenge to our team with its tight, tree-lined fairways and fast, sloped greens," said head coach Dave Gumbert. "Louis Gonzales negotiated the course efficiently by scoring a 78."

Gonzales (Port Lavaca, TX/Calhoun HS) finished tied for 12th overall at six-over par while Noah House (Mt. Pleasant/Southmoreland HS) shot an 87 at 15-over par and both Ryan Gesso (Uniontown, PA/Laurel Highlands) and Liam Reshenberg (Uniontown, PA/Geibel Catholic) competed in their first tournaments.

"Noah improved his score of 90 from last year," said Gumbert. "Opening the season at this tournament provides us the opportunity to determine our weaknesses and improve them for our upcoming tournaments."

Penn State Behrand (B) won the Invitational with a score of 301 and 13-over par Noah Kunst led the team and finished first with a score of 70 at two-under par.
