Roaring Lions start season with pair of wins

CHARLOTTE – The Roaring Lions started the 2014-15 season in fine style by sweeping both games at the Johnsons and Wales Invitational.

The Roaring Lions defeated Warren Wilson 88-65 on Friday and then captured a win over the host school on Saturday by a score of 94-71.

In the opener, the Roaring Lions extracted partial revenge on the Owls for their USCAA Championship game loss two years ago.

Matt McKenna (Pittsburgh, Pa.) led five Fayette players in double figures, with 18 points, eight rebounds and five assists. C.J. Gaddis (Brownsville, Pa.) added 16, while dishing out seven assists to go with six rebounds.

Mario Reeves (Pittsburgh, Pa.) scored 13 off the bench while Jacob Bronder (Jefferson Hills, Pa.) had 13 as did Luke Williams (Maui, Hawaii). Williams accounted for three steals.

Due to a malfunction in the statistical program, detailed information on Fayette's victory over Johnson and Wales is not available at press time.

The Roaring Lions return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Point Park for a non-conference matchup with the Pioneers. The game can be heard on 590 AM WMBS or via at goroaringlions.com.
