Gaddis Sets Assist Record in Fayette's 100-85 win over Maine Fort Kent

LEMONT FURNACE, Pa. – C.J. Gaddis (Brownsville, Pa.) set a school record for assists as the Roaring Lions scored a convincing 103-85 win over USCAA DI Maine Fort-Kent on Sunday in the Main Arena.

Gaddis notched 18 of the Roaring Lions' 28 assists on the day, while scoring 14 and grabbing four rebounds.

As they have for most of the season, the Roaring Lions put five player in double figures, led new 1,000-point man Brandon Cunningham (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) who notched 25 while grabbing six rebounds. Matt McKenna (Pittsburgh, Pa.) got the double-double for the second consecutive day, scoring 22 and grabbing 17 rebounds to go with four assists.

Jake Bronder (Pleasant Hills, Pa.) added 16 and grabbed five rebounds while Mario Reeves notched 10 and had a pair of assists.

Fayette started strong, with McKenna drilling a three on the first possession. By the time Gaddis hit the second of two free-throws, the Roaring Lions had built a 15-0 lead.

The Bengals made a run, cutting the lead to six on a Joe McCloskey jumper with 7 minutes to play. However, Fayette regrouped and by halftime the lead was back up to 13 at 57-44.

Just four minutes into the second half, Luke Williams (Lahaina, Hawaii) buried a three to give Fayette a 20-point lead. Main Fort Kent had one more run and cut the lead in half after a James Givens field goal with seven minutes to play. Fayette (5-3, 3-0) closed with a 25-13 to cap the weekend sweep.

Fayette travels to Penn State Beaver on Wednesday for a critical PSUAC showdown. Tip-off is 8 p.m.
