Roaring Lions Roll to 9-0, Beat Brandywine and Schuylkill

The Roaring Lions continued their winning ways on Saturday and Sunday, as they traveled east to face Penn State Schuylkill and Penn State Brandywine.  On Saturday, Fayette used another hot shooting night, going 50% from the field and 48% from the arc to shut down Schuylkill 99-67.  Senior Brandon Cunningham scored a game high 22 points, going a perfect 8-8 from the charity stripe.  Senior Forward Matt McKenna and Junior guard Luke Williams followed with 21 points each, while McKenna pulled down a game high 17 rebounds. McKenna notched yet another double-double on the season as he inches closer to 1000 points in a Roaring Lion uniform.  Senior forward Jacob Bronder was a rebound away from another double-double on his stat sheet, as he poured in 15 points and grabbed 9 rebounds.

Sophomore guard Dominick Jackson provided a much-needed spark off the bench, as the first half seemed to be played at Schuylkill's pace.  Jackson scored a quick 3 from 6 feet behind the arc and finished with 13, going 4-5 from the field.  Fayette's furious defense lead to 31 points off of Schuylkill turnovers, most of which coming in the second half of play.

For the second of the two games, the Roaring Lions used another strong second half to fight off a feisty Brandywine team 94-72, keeping their offensive average above 90 points both in and out of PSUAC play.  Cunningham led all scorers with 28 points, while he pulled down 7 rebounds.  Williams, continuing his offensive attack on the weekend, poured in 22 points, going 9 -14 from the field and 2-5 from behind the arc.  Another double-double was in the works for McKenna, as he nailed down 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Bronder followed in scoring honors with 9, inching him closer to 1,000 in a Penn State uniform.  Bronder needs 12 points to surpass the milestone.

Another strong bench performance was issued by Sophomore guard Tony Bristol, as he was a perfect 3-3 from the field.  Bristol continues to be a defensive specialist for the Lions, along with Williams taking the task of watching the opposition's number one offensive threat.

The Roaring Lions are back in action Wednesday January 21 at 8:00 PM in the Community Center's Main Arena, as they host rival Penn State Beaver.
