Roaring Lions fall to Greater Allegheny

MCKEESPORT— Penn State Fayette's men's basketball team fell behind Penn State Greater Allegheny by 12 points at halftime and couldn't recover in a 111-82 loss to Penn State Greater Allegheny on Saturday, Dec. 5 in a PSUAC game.

    Greater Allegheny (3-5, 1-0) hit the Roaring Lions with a "double whammy" in the starters and off the bench. Curtis Newly scored 20 and Khari Hicks 11 from the starting five, but Moe Ali and Jashaun Fontanez combined for 33 points off the bench as Ali scored 17 points and Fontanez added 16 points,

    Fayette's Luke Williams torched the nets for a game-high 30 points and C.J. Gaddis added 13 points, but the nine points added by Kody Thomas off the bench was the next highest point total for PSF.

    Fayette (3-6, 2-1) turned the ball over 21 times and Greater Allegheny took advantage with 33 points off the turnovers. Greater Allegheny also had a 58 to 42 advantage in rebounding and a huge 46-19 advantage in "points in the paint."

    The hosts' biggest lead of 39 points came early in the second half, and GA shot 50 percent from the field while making 24 of 32 18 of 26 free throws. Fayette shot just 35.2 percent and sank 18 of 26 free throws.
