Roaring Lions Return The Favor in a Tight Contest with a Win Over Greater Allegheny

LEMONT FURNACE— Heading into Wednesday night's game riding a three game win streak the Penn State Fayette men's Basketball team set to take on the Nittany Lions of Greater Allegheny.  With a crazy ending, the Roaring Lions squeezed by Greater Allegheny with a big push in the last two minutes.

On Jan. 20 the Roaring Lions were led by three double digit scores.  Senior guard Luke Williams led the way who posted an impressive 22 points while going a perfect 5 for 5 on his free throws.  Following right behind was senior guard C.J. Gaddis with 20 points while going 6 for 8 on free throws.  Brandon Cunningham recorded a double-double putting up 16 points and 11 rebounds.  

Jeremy McMunn and Jashaun Fontanez led the Greater Allegheny Lions with 22 points and 13 points.  Both stayed perfect throughout going 2 for 2 and 3 for 3 on free throws.

The Roaring Lions led at half time by a score of 36 to 35.

Cunningham led the Roaring Lions with 11 rebounds, Williams and Sidon shared the way in steals with two a piece, while Bristol led the way with four assists.

Greater Allegheny edged Penn State Fayette in field goals and three pointers making 32 of 70 field goals and 7 of 26 three pointers.  Fayette would go to make 30 of 71 field goals and 4 of 23 three pointers.  Fayette went an impressive 17 for 21 from the free throw line. 

The Roaring Lions would go on to win a thrilling game 81 to 79.  With a big conference win the Roaring Lions improved their record to 7-8 overall and 6-2 in the conference.

Fayette will be on the road to face Penn State Mont Alto Sunday January 24 at 3pm.
