Overtime Thriller Advances Fayette to the PSUAC Championship

LEMONT FURNACE—with a huge semi-finals win, the Roaring Lions advance to the PSUAC Finals.  Despite having a slow start, the Roaring Lions battled back in the second half taking the game into overtime.      

On Jan. 29, The Roaring Lions were led by two seniors Luke Williams and Brandon Cunningham who both netted 20 or more points on the night.  Williams posted a team high of 27 points to finish off the night while Cunningham tallied 26.  C.J. Gaddis along with Dominick Jackson both scored double digit points, as well, with Gaddis scoring 15 points and Jackson netting 10.  As always, London Hoxie had another solid night from the bench, posting 12 points and a team high 8 rebounds in only 27 minutes.      

Trent Thomas was by far York's best player putting up 30 points along with 5 rebounds.  Richard Grant was not far behind posting his second double-double on the year scoring 21 points and 18 rebounds to lead the team on the night. 

The Roaring Lions fell behind at half time by a close score of 39 to 38.

Fayette edged York in 3 pointers shooting 48.3% to York's 22.2% while York had the upper hand in field goals 45.5% to Fayette 45.2%. In free throws, York and Fayette were evenly matched shooting 58.8% to Fayette's 57.7%.      

The Roaring Lions may have started off the game slow, but rallied at half time.  Coming into the second half, the Fayette men took charge of the game and won a thrilling overtime game 95 to 86 to advance themselves into the PSUAC Championship.

Fayette will be traveling to University Park to take on Penn State Mont Alto at Bryce Jordan Center Tuesday, February 23 at 9:00pm for the PSUAC Championship.
