Men's Basketball Drops contest with UPJ

Johnstown, Pa - The Nittany Lions (0-3) remained winless on the young season following a 115-83 loss Saturday at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown (UPJ).

Fayette jumped out to a 3-0 lead on a three-pointer by Marvin Sidon (Lahaina, HI/Lahainaluna HS), but the Mountain Cats went on a 24-5 run to take a 24-8 lead with 12:54 left in the first half.

Fayette closed its deficit to 13 points at 27-14 with 11:07 to play in the half, but UPJ closed the half by outscoring Fayette 37-22 the rest of the half to take a 64-36 lead into intermission.

Fayette will look to build off of a stronger second half that saw it score 47 points.

The Nittany Lions put four players in double figures with Sidon and Tavian Mozie (McClellandtown, PA/Albert Gallatin HS) each scoring 18, Treyvon Clayton (Connellsville, PA/Connellsville HS) adding 15 and London Hoxie (Menifee, CA/Paloma HS) scoring 14.

Sidon and Moxie each had six assists while Salim Wyche (Bel Air, MD/East Stroudsburg HS) led the team with six assists.

Jared Jakubick and Caiden Landis led seven UPJ players in double figures with 18 points apiece.

Fayette returns to the court Monday when it heads to St. Vincent for a 7 p.m. tip.
