MBB wins thriller at DuBois

DuBois, Pa - The Penn State Fayette men's basketball team earned a hard-fought and thrilling PSUAC West division contest with a 75-72 win at Penn State DuBois on Tuesday.

With the win, Fayette (4-11, 4-5) sits in fifth place in the division yet is only two games out of first while DuBois (4-11, 0-9) is in last place.

Four players hit double figures for Fayette with Marvin Sidon (Lahaina, HI/Lahainaluna HS) leading the way with 19 points.

Tavian Mozie (McClellandtown, PA/Albert Gallatin HS) added 14 points, Salim Wyche (Bel Air, MD/East Stroudsburg HS) had 13 points and nine rebounds while London Hoxie (Menifee, CA/Paloma HS) added 11 points and eight rebounds.

All five DuBois starters hit double figures with Mekhi Willis, Tyler Davis and Dylan Huey leading the way with 12 points apiece.

Fayette led by a single basket at the half, 35-33.

When Willis hit a jumper with 7:44 to go in the first half, it gave DuBois a 20-15 lead, and the five-point advantage was the biggest of the first half or either team.

Fayette opened up the biggest lead of the game for either team at 50-42 with 13:55 to go when Sidon hit a jumper.

DuBois cut the lead to one point several times in the second half including on a Willis jumper with 1:39 to go that made the score 73-72.

Iman Young (Silver Springs, MD/West Potomac HS) made a jumper for Fayette with 0:23 to go to make the score 75-72, and a Davis three-point shot was off the mark at the horn for DuBois as Fayette was able to pick up the win.

Fayette secured the win despite only shooting 40.3% (27-67) for the game while DuBois shot 51% (26-51).

The biggest advantages for Fayette were on points off of turnovers (21-10) and on second chance points (11-2).

Fayette awaits a home weekend double header as Penn State Schuylkill (6-9, 4-5) comes to campus on Friday at 8 p.m. before hosting Penn State Hazleton (7-4, 5-2) at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
