MBB falls at Lehigh Valley

Lemont Furnace, PA - A day after making seven three-pointers, Tavian Mozie hit six more at PSU Lehigh Valley.

Unfortunately, the PSU Fayette men's basketball team (5-13, 5-7 PSUAC) once again could not take advantage of the hot hand by Mozie (McClellandtown, PA/Albert Gallatin HS) as it fell at Lehigh Valley (4-9, 3-7), 79-70.

Fayette held an early 7-2 lead, but a 10-5 run by Lehigh Valley tied the game with 11:46 to go in the half at 12-12.

A jumper by Salim Wyche (Bel Air, MD/East Stroudsburg HS) with 11:26 to go in the half gave Fayette its last lead, 14-13, but Lehigh Valley closed out the half with a 21-15 advantage to take a 34-29 lead into halftime.

A Mozie three-pointer with 15:36 to go cut Fayette's deficit to a single point, 40-39, and the team was within a basket of taking the lead several times in the second half.

However, Fayette could not take the lead and Lehigh Valley held on for the win.

Mozie finished with a team-high 20 points while Marvin Sidon (Lahaina, HI/Lahainaluna HS) and Wyche each added 12 points.

Iman Young (Silver Springs, MD/West Potomac HS) grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds for Fayette while Lehigh Valley's Jeremiah Jenkins led all scorers with 23 points and James Middleton added 19 points.

Fayette shot 40.4% (23-57) from the field and shot well from downtown by hitting 13 out of 28 (46.4%) from three-point territory.

Lehigh Valley shot 42.6% (29-68) from the field and held a 14-shot advantage at the foul line, making 18 out of 30 attempts while Fayette made 11 out of 16.

Fayette is at PSU Mont alto Tuesday.
