MBB wins, picking up momentum

New Kensington, PA - The PSU Fayette men's basketball team won its third straight PSUAC game with an 81-65 win at PSU New Kensington Wednesday night.

All five Fayette (8-14, 8-8 PSUAC) starters scored in double figures.

Salim Wyche (Bel Air, MD/East Stroudsburg HS) led the way with 16 points as he connected on eight of 11 shots and also grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.

London Hoxie (Menifee, CA/Paloma HS) scored 14 points, Iman Young (Silver Springs, MD/West Potomac HS) had 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds, Tavian Mozie (McClellandtown, PA/Albert Gallatin HS) chipped in with 11 points and Marvin Sidon (Lahaina, HI/Lahainaluna HS) finished with 10 points.

New Kensington (7-13, 3-11) controlled the early part of the game, but John Bristol (Charleroi, PA/Charleroi HS) gave Fayette its first lead, 22-20, with 10:15 to play in the first half.

Down 39-32 with 5:00 to play in the half, Fayette chipped away at the New Kensington lead and a Sidon three-pointer with 1:02 left gave Fayette a 45-44 lead going into the locker room.

New Kensington took the lead back early in the second half, but Young hit a jumper with 14:51 to play to give Fayette a 51-50 lead and it would not trail again.

For the game, Fayette shot 48.6% (36-74) but only shot 22.2% (6-27) from beyond the arc while New Kensington shot 38.9% (21-54) from the floor.

New Kensington's Jamison Nee led all scorers with 21 points.

Fayette has momentum on its side as it hosts PSU Schuylkill (8-13, 6-9) Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
