MBB drops hard-fought PSUAC game to G. Allegheny

Lemont Furnace, PA - The young Penn State Fayette men's basketball team jumped out to a 30-20 halftime lead over visiting Penn State Greater Allegheny Tuesday, but the guests battled back to pull out a 63-57 win in Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) play.

Fayette's (8-14 overall, 6-10 PSUAC) biggest lead was 34-20 with 18:56 to play in the game, but GA (15-7, 11-5) went on a 22-8 run over the next 8:38 to tie the score with 10:18 to play.

With the game knotted up at 55-55 with 1:30 to left, GA's Koran Fleming hit a three-pointer to give the guests the lead and Kenny Rouse hit one of his own with 0:55 to play to seal the game.  Rouse's three was his only make in seven attempts from beyond the arc.

Iman Young (Silver Springs, MD/West Potomac HS) recorded his 11th double-double for Fayette by finishing with 17 points and 14 rebounds while Josh Hankins (Phoenix, AZ/Pinnacle HS) added 15 points.

Fayette turned the ball over 20 times compared to just 11 for Greater Allegheny, and the guests held a 22-8 advantage in points off of turnovers.  Another key advantage for the guests was their bench outscoring Fayette, 22-9.

Fayette shot 35% (19-54) for the game and 20% (5-25) from beyond the arc while GA shot 34% (22-64) from the floor and 29% (7-24) on three-pointers.

The loss is Fayette's third in its last five PSUAC defeats by six points or less.

Fayette heads to Penn State Shenango (9-12, 9-6) Saturday at 2 PM for a PSUAC contest.
