MBB falls at Franciscan

The Penn State Fayette men's basketball team went on the road Sunday afternoon and fell at Franciscan University, 115-101.

"Offensively, we are pushing the ball up the floor and scoring points," said head coach Andy Hedrick. "Defensively, we have to get better.  It is fixable but I have to find the right combinations of lineups that will allow us to keep scoring but will make defensive stops as well."

The Nittany Lions (1-1) shot 45.6% (34-74) from the floor and made 11 of 32 (34.4%) three-point attempts.  Franciscan shots 52.3% (46-88) from the field.

Five players hit double figures for Fayette with Tavian Mozie (McClellandtown, PA/Albert Gallatin HS) and Will Hagwood (Willoughby, OH/Willoughby HS) leading the way with 19 points apiece.  Mozie made five of his nine three-point attempts and had five assists.  Dasilas Jones (Fairmont, WV/Fairmont HS) added 15 points and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds, Dom Boring (Lancaster, PA/Lancaster HS) had 12 points and Justin Craigg (Newark, DE/Newark HS) had 10 points and a game-high five steals.

Fayette turned the ball over 24 times while Franciscan turned it over 28 times.  While the Nittany Lions held the advantage in fast break points (30-21), they were outscored in the paint (68-44) and in points off the bench (51-37).

The Nittany Lions have their home opener Wednesday at 8 p.m. when they host Allegheny County Community College.  Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m.
