Led Lady Roaring Lions

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Jessica Stairs has been named as the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Softball Player of the Week for the week of April 12-19. The junior from Mount Pleasant led the Lady Roaring Lions to key wins over Penn State Scranton, Penn State Hazleton and Penn State Greater Allegheny.

For the week, the Lady Roaring Lions went 5-1 and Stairs was a force not only at the plate but on the mound as well. She hit .600 (12-20), crushing three home runs and a pair of doubles while driving in eight runs.

On the mound she hurled two complete games as the Lady Roaring Lions earned a key split with Penn State Hazleton and swept both Penn State Schuylkill and Penn State Greater Allegheny.

For the season, Stairs is hitting .491 (sixth in the nation and third in the PSUAC) with a slugging percentage of .873 (second in the nation and tops in the PSUAC). Her 27 RBI are seventh in the nation and lead the PSUAC. She leads the PSUAC and is sixth in the nation in home runs (6).
