Fayette Women’s Softball Show No Mercy

Oliver, Pa- The Penn State Fayette Lady Roaring Lions stay on fire as they played Penn State DuBois Thursday April 13th. The Fayette Roaring Lions caught the winning fever as they won 2-0 in their doubleheader.

Penn State Fayette got an easy first win as they brought out the bats and rounded the bases with no hesitation. The Lady Roaring Lions scored 14 out of their 21 runs in the first inning. Freshman Aubree Yates has been having an incredible season having her last game batting average being 1.000% against Penn State Greater Allegheny. "I hope this was a confidence booster for all players to see that everyone can do it" Yates states about the great start against DuBois, and it did. All players were battling in the box and coming out with great hits. Fayette also had a great fielding effort as they held DuBois to a single run. The final score of the first game was 21-1 ending in three innings.

In the second game of the doubleheader, Penn State Fayette started on a 3-0 run in the first inning. Although, Penn State DuBois woke up in the 3rd inning answering to Fayette hot start tying it up 3-3. Going into the top of the fourth, Tiffany Markovitch was subbed in and didn't hold back on her pitching striking two batters out quick. Markovitch was then up to bat in the bottom of the 4th and hits a double to start their run of the inning giving them a lead 5-3. Penn State Fayette was able to stay on a comfortable pace after allowing 3 runs. Monica Joseph hit the game winning triple into center field, sending # players to give them an 11-3 final score. 

Penn State DuBois is a young team with a group of freshman and sophomores with one lone senior. Being a young team, DuBois was having a tough time to find their first win for the season. Penn State DuBois had a 0-7 conference record coming into this game. DuBois was able to find a couple hits from their young team but not enough to get passed Fayette's strong efforts.

Penn State Fayette is now 7-3 in the PSUAC and sitting at 3rd for the west standings. The Lady Roaring Lions will travel to Penn State DuBois Friday April 14th to see if they can continue their 5-game winning streak. The first game is set to start at 2 pm.
