Fayette Finishes Regular Season with Sweep of Kent State Tuscarawas

Fayette traveled to Kent State Tuscarawas Friday afternoon to wrap up their regular season. They brought home two wins, to bring their final regular season record to 22-13.

Game 1 saw Fayette take the lead early, and hold Kent State to take the win. After a scoreless 1st inning, Fayette's bats came alive in the 2nd.

The inning started with a double by Chanel Porter, who was then driven in when a Tiffany Markovitch fly ball was mishandled. A double by Rachel Hartley, single by Kaitlyn Wilson, RBI groundout by Kelsey Holp, and a single by Casey Hite would all bring in runs.

Hite would add on a solo home run, her second of the season, in the 7th.

Tiffany Markovitch took over the rest of the game over, allowing only 1 earned run to take the win.

Sabrina Smith took the loss for Kent State, allowing 7 runs on 14 hits.

Game 2 was an offensive breakout by both teams, but the Fayette bats prevailed, scoring 19 runs.

Fayette opened the scoring in the first when Hite doubled, driving in 2, then took home on a passed ball.

Kent State scored 4 of their own in the bottom half of the inning.

Back to back RBI triples by Wilson and Yates gave Fayette the lead back in the 2nd.

An error on a pickoff attempt scored Hite and a passed ball on the next pitch allowed Porter to score.

Kent State would tie the game again in the 3rd.

A bases loaded walk scored Hannah Kline and a Porter fielder's choice brought home another run. Markovitch then singled, bringing home 2 more runs. Hartley then launched a 2 run home run, the first of her collegiate career, to center.

In the 6th, Wilson hit her second triple of the game, scoring Markovitch. She then scored on a single by Kline.

Fayette ended the scoring in the 7th, on an RBI single by Markovitch, a bases-loaded walk by Wilson, and a passed ball allowing Hartley to score.

Hite, Markovitch and Wilson all had 3 RBIs for Fayette, and Porter and Hartley added 2 each.

Caitlyn Brown recorded her first collegiate win in the circle for Fayette.

Hannah Halstead took the loss for Kent State Tuscarawas.

Fayette returns to action Sunday at Penn State's Beard Field in State College. They will take on Penn State Brandywine in the second round of the PSUAC playoffs.
