Fayette softball splits with Beaver

Lemont Furnace, PA - The Penn State Fayette softball team split a double header with PS Beaver on Saturday, March 30.

In the opener, Fayette picked up a 5-1 win before dropping the second game, 4-0.

Fayette took a 1-0 lead in the first.

Aubree Yates (Eighty-Four, PA/Bentworth HS) led off the bottom of the first when she reached base on an error and scored two batters later when Destiny Habeck (Monessen, PA/Monessen HS) also reached on an error.

On the play, Habeck was credited with an RBI.

With the game tied at 1-1 after three, Fayette scored two runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth.

The hosts strung together three hits in the fourth to score their two runs.

Tiffany Markovitch (Brownsville, PA/Brownsville HS) scored on a sacrifice fly to center off of the bat of Yates and Lauren Mastowski (Dawson, PA/Frazier HS) scored on an RBI single by Chanel Porter (Cumberland, MD/Allegany HS).

In the fifth, Casey Hite (Bentleyville, PA/Bentworth HS) doubled in Habeck, who had singled.

Katie Kelley (Fairchance, PA/Albert Gallatin HS) followed with an RBI single to bring Hite in.

Markovitch went the distance in the pitcher's circle and only allowed three hits and one earned run.

In the nightcap, Fayette was held to a pair of singles by Yates.

Beaver took a 2-0 lead in the third and added one run in both the fourth and fifth innings.
