SB extends win streak to 10, sweeps Mont Alto

Mont Alto, PA - With a berth in the PSUAC playoffs already secured, the Penn State Fayette softball team swept Penn State Mont Alto Friday.

With the pair of victories, the team extended its season-best winning streak to 10 games.

Fayette (15-12, 12-4 PSUAC) shut out the hosts in the opener, 4-0, despite only securing five hits.

Katie Kelley (Fairchance, PA/Albert Gallatin HS) would give Fayette a 1-0 lead in the first when she singled in Lauren Mastowski (Dawson, PA/Frazier HS), who had doubled.

Mastowski gave Fayette a 2-0 lead in the third with a sacrifice fly and the team added an unearned run in the fourth before Madison Knight (Clarksburg, WV/Robert C. Byrd HS) drove in Fayette's last run with a ground out in the sixth.

Tiffany Markovitch (Brownsville, PA/Brownsville HS) went the distance in the pitcher's circle and struck out eight.

In the second game, Fayette rolled to a 16-2 win over Mont Alto (8-22, 5-13 PSUAC) with the aide of seven errors.

Leading 3-2 after three innings, Fayette exploded for seven runs in the fourth and six more in the fifth.

Danielle Jones (Uniontown, PA/Laurel Highlands) looked best offensively for Fayette with three hits and two RBI while Chanel Porter (Cumberland, MD/Allegany HS) had two hits and Hannah Kline (Fayette City, PA/Frazier HS) finished with three RBI.

Ally Hawkins (Morgantown, WV/Morgantown HS) went the distance to earn the win.

The teams will play another double header Saturday to close out conference play.
