Fayette softball eliminated from PSUAC tourney

Dubois, PA - The Penn State Fayette softball team saw the dream of winning the PSUAC championship come to an end Saturday with a 3-1 loss at Penn State DuBois in a First Round game.

The loss also ended Fayette's 14-game winning streak and may have ended their hopes of making it to the USCAA Small College World Series.

DuBois (18-11) opened up scoring in the third inning when it took a 1-0 lead on a Laura Fatula sacrifice fly and it doubled its lead to 2-0 an inning later with an unearned run thanks to a Fayette (21-13) error.

Makenzie Lukehart tripled in Kayleigh MacTavish to make the score 3-0 in the sixth.

Fayette finally got on the board in the bottom of the seventh but it could only muster one run.

With two outs, Chanel Porter (Cumberland, MD/Allegany HS) singled to left field to score Aubree Yates (Eighty-Four, PA/Bentworth HS), but Lauren Mastowski (Dawson, PA/Frazier HS) grounded out to second base to end the game.

Mastowski was the lone Fayette player with multiple hits as she finished with two singles.

Lizzy Scott earned the win for DuBois and she stymied Fayette all game long as she held the team to six hits.

Tiffany Markovitch (Brownsville, PA/Brownsville HS) went the distance in the pitcher's circle for Fayette.
