Wilson takes 2nd at Westminster Invitational

Despite having only six athletes, Penn State Fayette's first year men's track team had a successful day at the Westminster Invitational.  The team managed to finish 10th out of 16 teams at the Westminster Invitational.  The day not only produced team success, but saw individual records set and of course school records kept coming.

The positive results were buoyed by Ben Wilson's(Fr., Uniontown) second place in the high Jump, with a Jump of 1.87m.  Ryan Gesso(So., Laurel Highlands) also saw a top finish, with a third place in the men's javelin, throwing 46.26 meters.

The track saw several season PRs, and as this is our first season, school records.

In the 1500 Devin Pisarski(Fr., Connellsville) ran 4:28, while Anthony Berdine(Fr., Washington)  saw a big PR running 5:51.  On the women's side, solo artist Breyanna Gurksnis(Fr.,Apopka, FL) lowered her PR in the 1500 by 43 seconds, to 6:21.  The 800 meters saw Pisarski run a season best 2:05 and Berdine missed his best by 6 seconds.  Gurksnis again lowered her PR finishing in 3:01.

Micheal Elliot(Fr. Beth-Center) had great heat finishes in both of his races.  In the open 400, he ran a PR and school record of 56.76 finishing third in his race.  He then turned his attention to the 400 hurdles and lowered his time to 1:03, finishing fifth in that heat.

The team will travel to Bethany College to compete in the PAC Quad-South Meet on April 19th.
