Strong conclusion for Fayette Track and Field season

Devin Pisarski (Fr, Connellsville) wrapped up the first season of Fayette track with a trip to Allegheny College's Gator Invite, on Friday, May 12.

Despite coming out of the second heat, Pisarski finished 6th overall.  His time of 1:57.31 was a season and school record. This was especially to Pisarski as he had to overcome a severe ankle sprain last fall and spent all winter strengthening it up with mileage. "I really had no leg speed at the beginning of the season, but it finally came back in the last couple of weeks.

With the first season in the books, Coach Joe Carei and the team are looking forward to next year. "We were pleased with how the team ended up.  We had several people place in the National Invite with Ryan (Gesso) winning it all. With hopefully everyone coming back and an influx of new people, next year will be more exciting." Said Coach Carei.

The team saw success in most invitationals that they participated in. They were led by Ben Wilson(Fr., Uniontown). Wilson placed in the top three in four invitationals, while high jumping to a school record 1.93 meters. Wilson also competed in the 110 Hurdles, 800 meter run and 4x400 relay. Gesso (So., Laurel Highlands) built steam the whole season and finished the last two meets winning both the Bethany Invitational and USCAA National Invite.  Pisarski also ran the 5,000 meter, 1500 meter and 4x400 relay. Michael Elliott (Fr., Beth-Center) capped off his season with a fourth place in the 400 hurdles at the National Invitational.  He also ran the 400 meter, 3000 meter steeplechase and the 4x400 relay. Anthony Berdine (Fr., Washington) ran a PR in every meet he ran, competing in the 800 meter and 1500 meter runs. George Lin (So., Laurel Highlands) competed in the Javelin throw and finished the year with a 39.60 meter PR. Coron Mains (Jr., Laurel Highlands) ran the 100 meter, 200 meter and 4x400 relay.

Breyanna Gursknis (Fr., Apopka, FL) competed in the 400, 800 and 1500 meters for the women. She finished 7th in the 400 meter in the National Meet. Kirsten Webb also ran the 800 and 1500 meters for the Roaring Lions.
