A Close Battle Between Fayette and Beaver

A Close Battle Between Fayette and Beaver

LEMONT FURNACE, PA – A tightly matched game, both Penn State Fayette and Penn State Beaver kept an even scoring game up to the fourth quarter. At the end of each quarter the largest lead was a mere two points. Unfortunately, Beaver came out on top winning 97-87 on February 3rd, Wednesday night.

Both teams showed numerous high scorers last night with four players posting 20 points.  Haley Moreland nearly acquired a season high on the board with her 20 points, only one short of tying her last high scoring game. Fayette's other scoring leader was Courtney Haines (20 points). On the other side of the court, Beaver's stars were Brittany Jackson and Morgan Kurtz (20 points). Not far behind, Khalia Adams and Mason Depetro drove in 19 points apiece. At this point Adams can almost taste the 1000 point club at 23 points away.

Not only even on the board, but also under the hoop, it seemed the teams took turn snatching up rebounds as Beaver tallied 41 while Fayette was close by with 39. Shannon Flament was big for the Roaring Lions gathering in 6 defensive rebounds as well as Taylor Smith with her 14 total rebounds. As for Beaver, Jackson was a crucial player also dominating in rebounds with 11 overall and 9 for Asia Borders.

Another impressive feat for both teams was the precision of shots behind the three point line. The Fayette ladies were on a roll draining 11, the highest yet this season (61.1%) and Beaver attempting fewer shots resulting in a better percentage of 88.95 (8 shots).

The Lady Roaring Lions are ready for a relaxing couple days of rest to come until they face Penn State Lehigh Valley at home on Saturday, February 6th, 3:00pm.
