1000 Point Club Welcomes New Member: Taylor Smith

Finishing off the season with a bang, junior, Taylor Smith was welcomed into the 1000 point club on Thursday, March 3rd when she scored a layup against St. Joseph's College (Vermont) in the USCAA National Basketball Tournament, hosted by Penn State Fayette.

A transfer this year, Smith has been a monumental addition to the team as she has been one of the top two leaders in points for her team. Ending the season, Smith had accumulated 348 points, only two behind the leading scorer this year. Her consistency and composure is impeccable, making 80.2% of her free throws, the highest percentage on her team while also achieving the most accurate field goal percentage 52%. On average, Smith was scoring 13.4 points a game.

Taylor Smith played in all 26 games this season, starting in nearly all of them, accumulating 619 minutes of playing time. Not only huge on the scoreboard, she's also an asset underneath the board, rebounding a team high of 272 rebounds just this season.

On behalf of the Penn State Fayette Department of Athletics, we would like to congratulate Taylor Smith on a remarkable first season with Penn State Fayette and entering into the 1000 point club.
