Fayette Lady Roaring Lions Fall to Brandywine

Media, Pa. – The Penn State Fayette Lady Roaring Lions traveled to face Penn State Brandywine Friday, January 27^th. The Lady Roaring Lions started off on a good note in the first quarter, 16-11. Then the tables turned in the 2^nd quarter. Brandywine come out hot on an 18-0 run when Fayette just couldn't buy a bucket. The Lady Roaring Lions only scored 8 giving them 24-39 at the half. Coming out from a messy 2^nd quarter, Fayette found some fire in the second half. Fayette outscored Penn State Brandywine 46-40 but unfortunately it was too late. Brandywine was able to keep the lead at the end with a final of 79-70.

For the Penn State Fayette Lady Roaring Lions, Taylor Smith stays on a hot streak of getting double-doubles. Smith scored a game high of 28 points and 16 rebounds. Sophomore, Lyndsey Huhn also helped underneath the basket with 14 rebounds and 6 points. Haley Moreland of Laurel Highlands scored 18 points and had 6 assists for Fayette. Courtney Haines also had 14 points and 7 rebounds Friday night.

 Penn State Brandywine had a handful of players that had a good offensive effort. Freshman, Nikki Velez led her team in scoring with 22 points. Teammate Brandi James had a great game herself scoring 15 points and grabbing 20 rebounds. Aylssa Abbonizio also scored 15, Chelsea Dent scored 11 and freshman coming off the bench, Madison D'Ambrosio had 10 points.
