WBB falls short to Lorain CC

Elyria, OH - With an already short roster depleted by injuries and playing its fourth game in five days, the Penn State Fayette women's basketball team took a quarter to find its legs and it cost them in an 86-66 loss at Lorain County Community College Tuesday night.

"It took us a while to get going," said head coach Scott Hillen. "Once we finally got going, we played them even."

LCCC raced out to a 29-8 lead after the first quarter, and Fayette tried to chip away in the second quarter by outscoring the hosts, 19-15.

The teams played relatively even in the second half.

Taylor Costa (Donora, PA/Ringgold HS) continued her strong start to the season as she recorded another double-double as she had a game-high with 24 points and 15 rebounds, with both numbers also setting career bests.

Dae-lin Burnsworth (Monarch, PA/Connellsville HS) added 19 points and five assists while both Shelbie Brown (Camden, OH/Preble Shawnee HS) and Carissa Cyphert (Scottsdale, PA/Southmoreland HS) added nine points.

Hillen brought in seven freshmen for this season, and with the injury bug still limiting depth, freshmen scored all but five points during the game.

Fayette returns to action with its PSUAC opener on Friday, November 30 when it travels to Penn-State Wilkes-Barre before heading to Penn State Scranton the next day.
