WBB closes out 2018 with loss to LCCC

Lemont Furnace, PA - The Penn State Fayette women's basketball team heads into a brief holiday break coming off of an 84-71 loss to Lorain County Community College Monday afternoon.

"We saw some good things but we need to play better defense," said Fayette coach Scott Hillen. "Unfortunately, we took a step backwards after winning three out of our last four games."

It is Fayette's second loss of the season to LCCC as it dropped an 86-66 contest on November 20.

Fayette (4-8) jumped out to an early 6-1 lead, but LCCC led 23-16 after one quarter and extended its lead to 41-31 at the half.

The 10-point differential would be the closest Fayette would be in the second half.

Lyndsey Huhn (California, PA/California HS) led the team with 17 points and nine rebounds while Kaitlyn Riley (Charleroi, PA/Charleroi HS) added 16 points, Dae-lin Burnsworth (Monarch, PA/Connellsville HS) had 14 points and Shelbie Brown (Camden, OH/Preble Shawnee HS) tallied 11 points and nine rebounds.

For the game, Fayette hit 28 of 74 hots (37.8%) and missed all eight of its three-point attempts while LCCC hit 29 of 68 field goal attempts (42.6%) and made 13 of 29 (44.8%) three-point attempts.

For the game, LCCC outscored Fayette 39-0 from behind the arc.

Fayette returns to action on Wednesday, January 9 when it heads to Penn State Greater Allegheny for a PSUAC contest.
