WBB falls in PSUAC semifinals

Lehigh Valley, PA - The run in the PSUAC tournament by the Penn State Fayette women's basketball team ended in the semifinals Friday night with an 83-56 loss to PSU Lehigh Valley.

Fayette (13-14) fell behind 10-2 and never led in the contest.

Lehigh Valley (23-2) led 18-4 after the first quarter and doubled up Fayette in the first half, 42-21.

Lyndsey Huhn (California, PA/California HS) led Fayette with 18 points while Dae-lin Burnsworth (Monarch, PA/Connellsville HS) added 16 points.

Siteri Tale (Uniontown/Laurel Highlands HS) grabbed 13 rebounds for Fayette and Kaitlyn Riley (Charleroi, PA/Charleroi HS) had four steals and four assists.

Lehigh Valley placed four players in double figures and were paced by Kion Andrews' 16 points.

Fayette turned the ball over 37 times and Lehigh Valley scored 38 points off of the Fayette miscues.

Other key advantages for Lehigh Valley included rebounds (60-37), second chance points (23-9), points in the paint (56-28) and fast break points (24-6).

For the game, Lehigh Valley only made one of 20 three-point attempts (5%) but it shot 52% (33-63) from inside the arc while Fayette finished at 35% (21-60) from the field.

Fayette now awaits a potential bid in the USCAA national tournament.

Lehigh Valley plays PSU Beaver (22-4) in the conference championship game Sunday at the Bryce Jordan Center in University Park.
