WBB drops PSUAC game at PS Beaver

Up 30-27 at the half, the Penn State Fayette women's basketball team found itself in foul trouble and was outscored 60-33 in the second half of its 87-63 Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) loss at Penn State Beaver Tuesday night.

"We turned the ball over 31 times, didn't shoot well and had three players foul out," said head coach Scott Hillen. "We were beat everywhere in the game and was physically beat up."

Fayette (4-3, 2-1) only shot 37% (24-65) from the floor for the game and while Beaver (6-2, 4-0) only shot 38% (32-85), the turnovers and the 17 offensive rebounds that Beaver was able to procure were too much.

Hillen said Fayette was not read for the physicality of the game.

"There was bumping, pulling and grabbing all night," Hillen said. "We couldn't handle (the physical aspect of the game)."

Taylor McCormick (Laurel, MD/Eleanor Roosevelt HS) led Fayette with 19 points before fouling out.  Brooke Poling (Perryopolis, PA/Frazier HS) added 15 points and nine rebounds before also fouling out and Anaejah Harris (Uniontown, PA/Albert Gallatin HS) chipped in with 10 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.  Siteri Tale (Uniontown/Laurel Highlands HS) added 6 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.

Alexis Cross scored a game-high 29 points for Beaver while Diamond Thomas added 19 points and a game-high 10 steals.

Fayette heads to Penn State York Friday and Penn State Mont Alto Saturday.
