WBB, ranked 10th in USCAA, wins fourth in a row

Lemont Furnace, PA - Friday night, the 10th-ranked Penn State Fayette women's basketball team won its fourth game in a row and seventh out of its last eight with am 84-63 win over Penn State New Kensington.

"Our good shooting effort made up for a sluggish defensive effort," said head coach Scott Hillen. "It is good to finish up the first semester strong but we have a tough schedule the second semester.

"We need to be ready."

All five starters hit double figures for Fayette (8-3, 5-1) in the Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference contest.

Taylor McCormick (Laurel, MD/Eleanor Roosevelt HS) recorded a double-double as she led the way with 19 points and 10 rebounds while Anaejah Harris (Uniontown, PA/Albert Gallatin HS) and Brooke Poling (Perryopolis, PA/Frazier HS) each scored 14 points and both Dae-lin Burnsworth (Monarch, PA/Connellsville HS) and Kaitlyn Riley (Charleroi, PA/Charleroi HS) finished with 12.

Fayette led 20-14 after the first quarter and 42-27 at the half.

For the game, New Ken (1-10, 1-5) outshot Fayette (38% to 36%) but Fayette hit 11 three-pointers with Burnsworth leading the way with three.

Fayette is off until returning from winter break as it heads to Penn State Greater Allegheny on Tuesday, January 14 for a 6:00 PM tipoff.
