LEMONT FURNACE, Pa. – The Lady Roaring Lions continued to roll in the PSUAC winning all four matches over the weekend. On Saturday, Fayette defeated Penn State Hazelton and Penn State Lehigh Valley by identical 3-0 scores.
On Sunday, Fayette defeated Penn State Scranton and Penn State Wilkes Barre by 3-0 scores.
FAYETTE 3, HAZLETON 0
Kelsey Tyler (Canonsburg, Pa.) sparked Fayette's 3-0 win with a career-high 23 kills and also had seven aces . Samantha Helmantoler (Monongahela, Pa.) added seven assists, while sister Victoria had six. Courtney Haines (McClellandtown, Pa.) added five plus a pair of block-assists.
Emily Konter (Brownsville, Pa.), Fayette's all-time career assists leader added to her total with 22 assists to go along with a pair of service aces. Kara Zimcosky (McClellandtown, Pa.) added three aces.
Samantha Helmantoler led the defense with six digs, while Caitlyn Williams (Dunbar, Pa.) added five.
The Lady Roaring Lions won by scores of 25-8, 25-13 and 25-9.
FAYETTE 3, LEHIGH VALLEY 0
Fayette completed the "Saturday Sweep" defeating Lehigh Valley by scores of 25-12, 25-15 and 25-17.
Sam Helmantoler has 12 kills while Emily Caldwell (Belle Vernon, Pa.) added nine. Konter dished out 24 assists and three service aces. Williams added 11 digs.
No statistical information was available for Fayette's 3-0 wins over Wilkes Barre and Scranton.
Fayette improves to 14-4 overall and 8-0 in the PSUAC. Next up, the Lady Roaring Lions travel to DuBois on Sept. 30. Fayette defeated DuBois 3-0 earlier this season.
