Strong outing for Fayette Volleyball as they defeat Potomac State 3-1

Lemont Furnace, Pa - The Penn State Fayette women's volleyball team defeated Potomac State of West Virginia Friday, three sets to one, as they gear up for a tri-match on Saturday at Christendom, VA.

"We came together collectively for the first time," said head coach Sam Swetz. "I think we are finally clicking as a team."

In the opener, the Nittany Lions (2-3) came out hot and won 25-15 and then took the second set, 25-14.

After dropping the third set, 12-25, the Nittany Lions put the contest away with a hard-fought 25-21 win.

Chantel Porter (Cumberland, MD/Allegany HS) led the way with 19 digs while Siteri Tale (Uniontown/Laurel Highlands HS) added 15, Anei Toaisi (Uniontown, Uniontown HS) had nine, Morgan Pytlak (Rillton, PA/Yough HS) had seven, and both Alex Muccioli (Perryopolis,PA/Frazier HS) and Michaela Hall (Fairchance, PA/Albert Gallatin HS) had four each.

Tale led the team with 12 kills while Madiosn Knight (Clarksburg, WV/Robert C. Boyd HS) and Kiki Martin (Brownsville, PA/Brownsville HS) both had four, Toaisi had three and Jayden Barnish (Carmichaels, Carmichaels HS) had two.

Barnish led the way with 21 assists and Martin had one.

Tale had five blocks and Martin had two while Pytlak, Martin and Porter led the way with two aces each.

As far as the tri-match, Swetz feels that her team is of the right mindset and ready to go.

"I can't wait to see what happens at the games," she said. "We are looking for our record to be over .500 following this weekend."
