Lady Nittany Lions sweep GA; Beaver awaits in showdown

McKeesport, Pa - The Penn State Fayette volleyball team is playing its best ball of the season so far, and it couldn't come at a better time as the team went to Penn State Greater Allegheny Sunday and swept the hosts.

"This was a big match for us and I am excited about the impact this young team is making in the (PSUAC)," said coach Sam Swetz. "Our hustle has changed for the better and we are maturing."

Fayette (7-6, 4-0) swept Greater Allegheny by scores of 25-13, 25-12 and 25-23.

Siteri Tale (Uniontown/Laurel Highlands HS) had 11 kills, seven blocks and four aces, Chanel Porter (Cumberland, MD/Allegany HS) had three aces and 20 digs, Morgan Pytlak (Rillton, PA/Yough HS) recorded 10 digs, Jadyn Barnish (Carmichaels, Carmichaels HS) had 22 assists, and Anei Toaisi (Uniontown, Uniontown HS) had 15 digs.

Swetz is seeing a difference in her players.

"I am seeing their confidence grow collectively," she said. "They are learning to trust each other.

"I am looking forward to our big match Tuesday against (Penn State) Beaver."

The home match begins at 7 pm.
