Fayette volleyball splits against nationally ranked teams

Dubois, Pa - The Penn State Fayette volleyball team (14-7, 5-1 PSUAC) picked up a split against two top-ranked teams Saturday on the campus of Penn State Dubois.

In the opener, the team fell to the hosts, 3-1, before defeating UC Clermont, the top-ranked team in USCAA Division II, 3-1.

"It was an unfortunate slow start with the DuBois game, however the second game showed our never-give-up attitude," said coach Sam Swetz with excitement. "Although this puts conference playoffs up in the air, I am happy we proved how strong our conference is by defeating the top team."

DuBois won the opener by scores of 25-20, 25-20, 23-25 and 25-20.

Siteri Tale (Uniontown/Laurel Highlands HS) had 17 kills and five block solos, Jadyn Barnish (Carmichaels, Carmichaels HS) had 34 assists and three aces, Chanel Porter (Cumberland, MD/Allegany HS) had 27 digs and Morgan Pytlak (Rillton, PA/Yough HS) had three aces.

Fayette won the finale over UC Clermont by scores of 25-22, 11-25, 25-21 and 25-14.

Porter had 20 digs, Siteri had 19 digs, eight kills and four blocks and Barnish had 24 assists.

The team returns to action Saturday when it heads to Penn State Mont Alto.
