Fayette Volleyball clinches top seed in PSUAC tourney

Monaca, Pa - The Penn State Fayette volleyball team (18-7, 9-1 PSUAC) clinched first place overall in the PSUAC tournament thanks to its 3-0 sweep at Penn State Beaver Saturday.

"I am very proud of the fight in this team this year," said coach Sam Swetz. "The team knew two weeks ago after the devastating (PSUAC) loss against DuBois that it was critical to go 3-0 against everyone in order to place first, and the team did just that.

"I knew it wouldn't be easy because it was Beaver's Senior Day and teams tend to come alive on Senior Day."

The score of the three sets were 25-20, 25-21 and 25-19.

Kiki Martin (Brownsville, PA/Brownsville HS) had eight kills.

"Kiki had a fantastic game," Swetz said. "She is a huge reason why we were able to sweep Beaver."

Siteri Tale (Uniontown/Laurel Highlands HS) had 15 kills and two block solos, Chanel Porter (Cumberland, MD/Allegany HS) had 10 digs and Jadyn Barnish (Carmichaels, Carmichaels HS) recorded 22 assists.

The team has won 14 out of its last 15 matches and has won 41 out of 45 sets during the run.

Next up is a home PSUAC quarterfinal match against Penn State Mont Alto (11-12) on Wednesday at 6:00pm.
