Porter, Pytlak named USCAA VB Academic All-Americans

A pair of Penn State Fayette volleyball players were named USCAA Division II Academic All-Americans Wednesday night at the USCAA Championship Banquet at the Virginia Beach Convention Center.

Sophomores Chanel Porter (Cumberland, MD/Allegany HS) and Morgan Pytlak (Rillton, PA/Yough HS) have not only contributed on the court for the team, but now they have shown what it means to be student-athletes.

"I have worked very hard in the classroom while maintaining plying two sports," said Porter, who is majoring in broadcast journalism and has a 3.5 GPA. "It has been a challenge but I know at the end of the day that my academics come first.

I am very happy to be recognized for my hard work."

"I am proud to be named an Academic All-American," said Pytlak, who is a nursing major and has a 3.81 GPA. "I am honored to represent my school."

Head coach Sam Swetz shared her pride of the pair.

"Chanel came into the season determined to be the best and that has translated on the court but more importantly, in the classroom and she will be deeply missed next year," she said. "Morgan is the most responsible kid I know and is so dedicated to her studies and will be an amazing nurse one day."
