Anna Tale named new head coach for Fayette Volleyball

Lemont Furnace, PA- Penn State Fayette is excited to announce our new Head Volleyball Coach, Anna Tale.

Anna Tale had elite high school experience, playing for Maryland's High School, John F. Kennedy. After her senior year of high school, Tale was graced with the opportunity to represent the United States in Austria for the Junior Olympic team. In 2014, she played at the collegiate level for Penn State Lehigh Valley. Since moving on from collegiate play, Anna has become a local staple in the volleyball community of Fayette County. The start of Tale's coaching career was with Junior Olympic volleyball club, Penn Highlands from 2016 to 2020. After Anna's coaching run with the club for 4 years, she then shifted to Junior Olympic club, No Boarders, to continue gaining knowledge of the sport, in 2020. It was then she decided to take on her own program with Uniontown School District in 2021, where she quickly created a winning atmosphere. Throughout her coaching experience she was an active volunteer assistant with Penn State Fayette volleyball, assisting with two PSUAC Championships (2018 and 2019) and a USCAA National title in 2019.

"Coaching under Nancy Wheeler, Samantha Swetz and Janelle Cooper, I felt ready for the next level," Tale stated when asked why she chose Fayette as her next coaching venture.

Director of Athletics Stephen Oberly is excited for the future success with Tale, "Couldn't be mroe excited for the future of Fayette volleyball under the direction of Coach Tale. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in player development and the sport of volleyball. She's familiar with the history of the program through her years working on the coaching staff. There's no doubt she'll be a bridge to future success."

Anna feels that with her strong presence in the local community as a coach it could be a major strength in bringing recruits to Penn State Fayette Volleyball and bringing home a championship.

"With 9 returners, I believe we can get back to the [PSUAC] Championship," Anna said excitedly.

When asked what her plans were for connecting the new era of Fayette Volleyball with the historical era that was, she said this, "I want to implement the 'Fayette Family' prospective I have seen when being a part of it as a player and coach."
