Fayette XC turns heads at WCCC Invitational

Penn State Roaring Lion's Men's Cross Country team came away with a satisfying second place victory, and top PSUAC school,  at Westmoreland Community College Invitational on September 10.  The team defeated Pitt-Greensburg by 4 points to secure second and defeat 5 other teams attending the invitational.  NCAA school Frostburg State University won the meet.

The team was led by Freshman Devin Pisarski (Connellsville) and Junior Cameron Coffey (Brownsville, PA) who finished third and fourth overall.  Pisarski finished with a career personal record of 17:56 and Coffey was 5 seconds behind him.

First year runner Freshman Micheal Elliot (Beth Center) was 17th in 21:12.  He was helped out by Senior Jesse Varndell (Albert Gallatin) who finished in 22:29, good for 21st, and Pedro Tavarez (York Central) rounded out the top five with a 23rd place finish.  Freshman Anthony Berdine (Washington) was able to pick up points and help the team be the top PSUAC school, at the meet, with a 33rd place finish.

In the Women's race, the Lady Roaring Lions, were represented by Mallory Pasquarette and Kirsten Webb.  Pasquarette rounded the Wolfpack course in  29:26 and 18th place  and Webb, despite being under the weather finished in the middle of the pack with a 26th overall finish.
