Fayette XC Leads PSUAC at Greater Allegheny Invitational

Led by Cameron Coffey(Jr., Brownsville) and Devin Pisarski(Fr., Connellsville), Penn State Fayette Men's Cross Country powered its way to another second place finish at the Penn State Greater Allegheny Invite, which featured 10 teams. The Roaring Lions, once again, finished as the top PSUAC school at the meet.

The Men's team finished runner-up to Frostburg State University, for the second time in two weeks.  But, the placing was dramatically changed.  Coffey led the charge finishing first in 27:40 over the 8K course, while Pisarski was a few steps behind in 27:43.

The pair made their move at the 6 Kilometer point, surging ahead of the lead pack and never looking back.  They helped each other through the difficult course on the campus, for the 1-2 finish, with the next runner over 100 meters behind. 

Micheal Elliot(Fr, Beth Center) worked his way through the race course to finish in16th place with a time of 32:54.  Senior Jesse Varndell(Albert Gallatin) finished fourth for the team in 34:40 and 23rd overall.  Pedro Tavarez(Jr. Central York) worked through some hamstring issues to cross the line in 37:46 good for 30th overall.  Kyle Slavic(So. Monesson) and Ben Wilson(Fr., Uniontown) rounded out the scoring in 33rd and 36th, respectively.  The team was supported by Anthony Berdine(Fr., Washington), 37th, and Dalton Kirkpatrick(Jr., Connellsville), 39th.

In the Women's race, Kirsten Webb and Mallory Pasquarette ran personal bests.  Webb finished 22nd overall in 29:14 for the 6k course.  Pasquarette was three seconds behind in 23rd place.   Emma Hepler finished her first race ever in 34th place overall.

The team will travel to Penn State Mont Alto on Saturday, September 24.
